Vernon Phillip Mora

Vernon Phillip Mora, 86, lifelong resident of Cortez, died November 13, 2009. A World War II Navy veteran he spent his Naval career aboard the U.S.S. Alabama. He was a commercial fisherman.
 
Survivors include his daughter, Jeri Culbreath of Cortez; a son, Robert Purden of Melbourne; sisters Polly Staigarwald of Georgia and Bessie Kromery of Bradenton; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in December. Arrangements are by National Cremation and Burial Society, Sarasota.
